Market Structure
Located near Tarkwa, Ghana, West Africa this market structure is an economic
hub of activity for a new community of buildings and people. While working
for John vanNostrand and associates (now formed as Architects Alliance in
Toronto, John Boone prepared working drawings and physical 3d models to
describe a number of housing options and social facilities. The structures
themselves are quite simple and focus more on the immediate needs of the new
'settlers'. The cultural and community activities of this and many other
small african communities tends to happen in the streets. Open space became
an important elemant in the overall plan for this reason alone. The village
is now completed and occupied.
